Canon
CR3, CR2, CRW, and DNG from EOS R, EOS M, and EOS DSLR bodies.
Free RAW photo viewer for macOS
Open a folder or memory card of CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, or DNG files and see every frame at full resolution. Browse with the arrow keys, compare, rate, and pick keepers. Nothing is copied or converted.
Free download. No account, no catalog, no Lightroom needed.
Camera RAW is decoded with the RAW engine built into macOS, the same one Finder and Preview use, so support for a new camera arrives with a macOS update, not an app update.
CR3, CR2, CRW, and DNG from EOS R, EOS M, and EOS DSLR bodies.
NEF and NRW from Z, D, and Coolpix cameras.
ARW and SR2 from Alpha and RX cameras.
RAF from X Series and GFX cameras.
ORF from OM-D, PEN, and OM bodies.
RW2 and RAW from Lumix cameras.
Pentax PEF and DNG, Ricoh DNG, Samsung SRW and DNG.
Leica DNG and RAW, Hasselblad 3FR and PPM.
DNG from phones and converters, including Nokia and OnePlus, plus Minolta MRW, Epson ERF, Leaf MOS, and Kodak DCR.
Not RAW? Just Look! also opens JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, PNG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, OpenEXR, SVG, and animated GIF, WebP, and AVIF. See the image viewer page for the full list.
A RAW viewer should show you the photo, not ask you to build a library first. Just Look! opens the folder as it is and gets out of the way.
Open the folder on the memory card, the external SSD, or your Mac. Nothing is copied, converted, or indexed first.
Each RAW is decoded from the original file, so when you zoom in there is real detail to judge focus and noise on.
Zoom and pan stay smooth on large RAW files, and nearby frames preload so the next one appears immediately.
A RAW and a JPEG with the same name show up as a single image. Rate, pick, and trash both together.
Copy from the card while the folder is open and new files appear in the thumbnail strip on their own.
Open Image Info for shutter speed, aperture, ISO, lens, and dimensions, without leaving the photo.
Viewing is the first step. Just Look! keeps going: compare, rate, pick, and clear the misses, all from the keyboard.
Open the folder. RAW files appear right away, with the first one filling the window.
Step through with ← →. Zoom once, hold ⌥, and the same detail stays framed on every shot.
Press G to put 2 to 6 similar frames side by side and B to pin the best one.
Space picks, X rejects, 1–5 rates. Press ▼ to review only the picks.
Zoom into the eyes, hold ⌥, and press →. Each RAW opens at the same zoom and position. ⌥⌘⌫ trashes a miss and keeps the view on the next one. For the full workflow, see photo culling on Mac.
Free on the Mac App Store. No import, so it takes about as long as reading this sentence.
What you decide in Just Look! should still be there in Finder and in your editor. It is.
Rate 1–5 and tag with ⌃1–9. The same stars and Finder colors show up in Finder, so your sorting works outside the app.
Mark keepers with Space and misses with X, review only the picks, and gather every 4-star shot into Picks for a second pass.
Rotate with [ and ]. For RAW and DNG files the rotation goes to an XMP sidecar, so the original stays untouched.
Write ratings, picks, rejects, and tags to XMP sidecars, or embed them in JPEG and DNG, so Lightroom and other XMP-aware apps see them on import.
Just Look! shows your RAW files the way macOS renders them and leaves developing to the editor you already use. It is built for the step before: finding the frames worth editing, fast, without a catalog in the way.
That is why there is nothing to configure. Open the folder, look, decide, and hand the keepers to Lightroom, Capture One, or whatever comes next.
The 30-day Pro trial starts the first time you open the app. No subscription or payment details are needed to try it.
Pro is sold in the Mac App Store as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. When the trial ends, the free features keep working.
Yes. Canon CR3, CR2, and CRW files open directly, along with Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Fujifilm RAF, Olympus ORF, Panasonic RW2, Pentax PEF, Leica, Hasselblad, and DNG. Just Look! uses the RAW support built into macOS, so a camera that Apple adds in a macOS update opens in Just Look! too.
No. Just Look! decodes RAW files on its own, through macOS. There is no import, no catalog, and nothing else to install. Keep whatever editor you like for the keepers.
No. Just Look! reads your files where they are, on an internal drive, an external SSD, or a memory card. Viewing, comparing, rating, and picking never touch the RAW data. Rotation of a RAW or DNG file goes to an XMP sidecar, and Just Look! Pro can write ratings, picks, and tags to sidecars too.
A RAW file and a JPEG with the same name are shown as one image. Rate, tag, pick, or trash the pair together, so your folder never ends up with orphaned JPEGs.
Stars and Finder color tags are written to the files and show up in Finder. With Just Look! Pro, ratings, picks, rejects, and tags can also be written to XMP sidecars, or embedded in JPEG and DNG files, which Lightroom and other XMP-aware apps read.
Yes. Viewing RAW, browsing, Compare Grid, Picks, reject flags, and star ratings are free with no trial. Pro features such as XMP writing, batch trash, tag editing, crop, undo, rename, sorting, and export presets are free for 30 days, then cost $1.99 a month, $9.99 a year, or $19.99 once for lifetime access (US prices).
Just Look! requires macOS 12 Monterey or later and is available from the Mac App Store. RAW decoding comes from macOS itself, so newer macOS versions support newer cameras. Check Apple's list of supported camera RAW formats for your macOS version if you shoot a very recent model.
Yes, that is what it is built for. Browse with ⌥ held to keep the zoom, press G to compare up to six frames, Space to pick, X to reject, 1–5 to rate, then ▼ to review only your picks. With Pro, Trash Non-Picks clears the rest in one step. The photo culling page walks through it.
Free download. No import, no catalog, no subscription needed to look.
Requires macOS 12 or later. Also see compare photos side by side and the fast image viewer behind it.
