Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Just Look! (“the App”) and the website at justlook.pro (“the Website”) handle information.
Summary
Just Look! is designed to work with your files on your Mac. We do not operate a cloud photo service, and the App does not upload your images or folders to our servers.
Information the App Does Not Collect
The App does not:
- collect your photos, videos, filenames, or folder contents for transmission to us;
- require an account or login to us;
- include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs;
- include third-party crash-reporting services that send data to us.
Information Stored on Your Device
To provide its features, the App stores data locally on your Mac, including:
- App preferences — settings such as window placement, sort order, and launch options.
- Security-scoped bookmarks — references to folders you choose to open, so the App can reopen them with your permission.
- Thumbnail cache — locally generated previews to speed up browsing.
- Organization metadata — star ratings, Finder color tags, picks, reject marks, and similar data written to your image files, optional XMP sidecars, or stored in App preferences, depending on the feature.
- Pro trial state — a trial start date stored in the macOS Keychain and, if you are signed into iCloud on your Mac, in your iCloud Key-Value Store. This is used only to manage the 30-day Pro trial period. No photos or personal profile data are stored there.
All image viewing, comparison, culling, export, and organization happens on your device.
File Access and Permissions
Just Look! is sandboxed and requests access only to folders and files you choose to open. The App may also request permission to access removable volumes or network volumes you select. This access is used solely to display, organize, export, or modify the files you work with in the App.
Apple Services
If you purchase Just Look! Pro, payment and subscription management are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may provide us with purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro features, subject to Apple’s own privacy policy.
Website
The Website does not require an account. It uses these services:
- Visit statistics — Ahrefs Web Analytics counts visits, pages viewed, and referring sites. It does not use cookies.
- Google Ads conversion measurement (optional) — pages we use for Google Ads (photo-culling-mac, compare-photos-mac, raw-image-viewer-mac, and image-viewer-mac) load the Google tag only if you accept optional tracking. It measures whether a visit from one of our ads leads to a click on a Mac App Store download button, so we can tell which ads bring people to Just Look!
The Website does not use Google Analytics.
Cookies and Your Choices
On pages that use Google Ads measurement, a banner asks whether you accept optional tracking. We ask every visitor, wherever they are. Until you accept, the Google tag does not load, so these pages set no Google cookies and send nothing to Google. If you reject optional tracking or ignore the banner, it stays off, and the download buttons and the rest of the Website work the same.
If you accept, the Google tag:
- may set cookies on justlook.pro, such as
_gcl_auand_gcl_aw, that hold an identifier and the ad click ID from the ad you clicked, and Google may read or set its own cookies on Google domains; - sends Google the page address, the referring page, the ad click ID, information about your browser and device, and your IP address;
- sends Google a conversion when you click a download button. Opening a page is not counted as a download.
We use this only to measure our ads. Ad personalization and remarketing stay turned off, even if you accept. The Website does not store this data itself; we see the results as reports in our Google Ads account.
Google receives this data under its own privacy policy and may process it in the United States and other countries. Google explains how it uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and lists its cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
We rely on your consent for this measurement. To change your choice or withdraw consent at any time, use Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page. When you withdraw consent, the Website stops sending data to Google and deletes the Google cookies on justlook.pro. Withdrawing does not affect measurement that already took place. Cookies that Google keeps on its own domains can be removed in your browser settings.
We save your choice in your browser’s local storage on justlook.pro, under the name justlook-consent, so the banner does not appear on every visit. It holds only your choice and the date you made it, is not sent to us, and stays until you change your choice or clear this site’s data in your browser.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal and you have not made a choice, we treat the signal as a rejection and do not show the banner. You can still accept optional tracking from Cookie preferences.
Children’s Privacy
The App and Website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
